

Penny Powers, PT, MS, ATP
Penny J. Powers, PT, MS, ATP, has over 30 years of experience including administration, academic teaching, clinical education, geriatrics and intervention for chronic diseases in the medical center, sub acute and home care settings. She received her MS from Northwestern University while she served as faculty at Northwestern’s Physical Therapy Program. She currently practices as a Level IV PT at Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute. She received RESNA’s Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) certification in seating and mobility and directs the Adult Seating and Mobility Clinic. The clinic provides evaluation for young adults through geriatrics for seating and mobility. She has served on numerous hospital committees and received the 2009 Commodore Award for outstanding contributions to the Medical Center. Penny has been active in the American Physical Therapy Association including serving as a CAPTE onsite evaluator, Chief Delegate for the Tennessee Physical Therapy Associate, Publications Chair for the TPTA and Ethics Committee Chair. She has provided instructional sessions on principles of seating and mobility within the medical center, Nashville community, Belmont University School of Physical Therapy and in the private sector. She also is a credentialed Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association and serves as the Center Coordinator for Clinical Education for Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitaiton Institute at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Penny is a member of RESNA has had a poster entitled “ Functional Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction of Clients in the Seating and Mobility Clinic” accepted for the 2010 Annual Meeting.
